Job description
Within the Project Portfolio Management Department and reporting to the PPOM, the Business Line Director will be responsible for managing and coordinating complex projects (regulatory, strategic, and legal) within their area. Their key duties will consist of:
- Managing one or more projects (cost, deadlines, quality, and risks) and deploying the company’s strategy in projects.
- Analysing user needs and deciding between various projects, if required.
- Managing changes in project management culture and its organisation and ensuring transparent communication of the choices made.
- Providing a methodology, tools, training and support to IT and business line project managers.
- Coordinating all staff and interfaces involved and managing all commitments (deliverables, milestones, etc.).
To ensure further optimisation and effectiveness, the Business Line Director will also have the following responsibilities:
- Managing the translation of business line needs during the functional definition phase and directing the technical teams (gathering, reviewing, and questioning business cases, project descriptions, cost estimates and resource planning and allocation).
- Assuming staff and technical leadership for complex projects by applying project management governance (solving the planning conflicts of support lines/projects impacted and prioritising).
- Coordinating the IT Copil and the business line project managers to ensure the successful completion of their projects by providing know-how and organisational methodologies.
- Ensuring successful project completion, that deadlines and budgets are met, the follow-up of project phases and of Reporting to the project Sponsor and to the Project Portfolio Management Director for potential decisions regarding project selection or the resetting of priorities.
The missions described above are not exhaustive and may be expanded to meet the position’s requirements.
Profile
You have a post-secondary education (bachelor or master degree from a university, business school or engineering school) and have solid operations experience (at least 10 years) in a similar position acquired in banking, ideally in finance and investment banking.
You have good knowledge of the banking industry, excellent communication and editorial skills, the ability to understand and explain complex and varied issues, a keen sense of coordination and the skills needed to implement a pragmatic and effective methodology, the ability to synthesise, a sense for detail and leadership and teaching skills.
You are comfortable with office tools: Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
Fluent English is essential.
